Madame Alexander introduced her first “modern fashion doll” in 1955.  The Cissy doll was made with a mature figure and had on high heels!!  When Cissy was first introduced she was 20 inches tall.  She a hard plastic body with vinyl arms and was jointed at her hips, waist, neck, elbows, knees and shoulders.  Madame Alexander‘s Cissy doll was availabe with several different hair colors:  ash blonde, blonde, red, or brunette.  Cissy‘s eyes are blue and she has painted on eyelashes.  You could buy Madame Alexander‘s Cissy as a basic doll, clothed in underwear and mules, or you could purchase the Cissy doll in many different outfits, including evening wear dresses, bridal gowns, casual outfits, day dresses.  In 1958, Cissy grew a bit and was listed as 21 inches tall.  Cissy was a very popular doll who had many, many outfits available for her so that anyone who had a Cissy doll could have hours of fun.

Two years Cissy was introduced, Madame Alexander created a smaller, more affordable (but just as beautiful!) version of the modern fashion doll and named her Cissette. She has a hard, plastic body and is jointed at the neck, hips, knees, and shoulders. Cissette has high heel feet and she also has pierced ears! Cissette‘s hair is curly with bangs. Cissette was available in three different hair colors: blonde, brunette, and redhead. In a rare version of Cissette she was bald and had interchangable wigs! She could be dressed in bridal gowns, day dresses, as well as ballet costumes. Many of Cissette‘s outfits matched Cissy‘s outfits.
